10 Weeks to 10K Challenge: Week 4 Rundown

I’ve challenge myself to save $10,000 is 10 weeks, and I just wrapped up week 4. I enjoyed every gig I did, which helped balance out the lurking glumness from the rain and raging anxiety of an apartment fly infestation.

(Hundreds of dead baby flies are just emerging from the floorboards in one corner. If any reader has a theory, let me know.)

Let’s dive into what I did, what I saved, and what I earned!

The Gigs

1. TikTok Event

The Event: TikTok hosted a special conference for youths on digital wellness and how social media is impacting young people. There were guest speakers ranging from psychology professors to doctors, as well as panels with young adults discussing healthy ways to approach social media.

Hours: 8am-1pm

My Job: I check people and handed out badges,.

Thoughts and Feelings: During a panel, the moderator asked, “Why don’t people show up in an authentic way online?” One young woman responded, “How are we suppose to show up authentically when we don’t really know ourselves yet?”

2. School Recess Dance Program

The Event: A public schools in Long Island had a special recess program where a DJ and dancer (me!) came in to get kids moving.

Hours: 11:50am-1:30pm

My Job: I led follow along dance steps and help the DJ with various games.

Thoughts and Feelings: It’s a wonderful thing to see kids enjoy dance and get involved.

4. Dell Technologies Forum

The Event: Dell held a forum at the Javitz Center that was all about the latest and greatest innovations and ideas in technology.

Hours: 6:15am-6:15pm

My Job: I was a team lead, and it was my job to manage 36 people across 4 floors. I made the break schedule, and moved people as requested by the client.

Thoughts and Feelings: This was the biggest team and event I’ve ever been a lead on. It was a challenge, but I feel proud for the work I did!

5. Bat Mitzvah

I headed up to Scarsdale for a bat mitzvah. The kids were fun, the parents were happy, and it was a successful event.

6. Online Work

I made posts as part of my paid partnership on an app and did a few hours of SEO work.

Total Pre Tax Earnings:

$1860

How Much I Spent:

Food Out: $44.45

Transport: $63.25

Groceries: $74.37

Household Items/MISC: $55.36

Weekly Cost of Living (rent, health insurance, gym, storage, spotify): $365.44

Spending Total: $602.42

Total Saved: $1257.57

Which means my total savings in my 10 weeks to 10K challenge is $4596.74… nearly $600 ahead of schedule!
