Las Tostadillas Del Mar II: The One Restaurant in Cancun That You NEED to Try

Cancun is hardly a frugal destination in Mexico. $20usd drinks? $11usd guacamole? $10 for 3 tacos? That might be fine by NYC standards, but for Mexico? No way! The secret to finding affordable eats is to get out of the hotel zone and into the local downtown area.

We just so happened to stumble upon an epic restaurant where we feasted like kings for just $8usd a person. It was so dang good that I can’t keep the find all to myself…

Las Tostadillas Del Mar II

The Drinks:

Two margaritas for 100 mxm… that’s $2.50usd per marg folks. And guess what… they were actually good! A bit sweet, but plenty of lime and the right amount of tequilla.

The Food:

The guacamole was out of this world. Big chunks of avocado, plenty of lime, and just enough cilantro. The small tortilla chips had a light chili sprinkling, which added a little va-va-voom.

The ahi tuna tostada was loaded high with fresh cubes of fish. It had a drizzle of soy and a sprinkling of sesame seeds that allowed the tuna to shine. The ceviche tostada was equally loaded, and it had a lovely freshness with a good balance of tomato, onion, shrimp, and herbs.

While they might look dull in the photo, the fish tacos were the star of the show. The big strips of fish were perfectly fried with a light, thin layer of dough that didn’t fall away from the fish. Slaw, sauce, and lime came on the side, and I concocted truly epic fish tacos.

Plus, one fish taco comes with 2 piece of fish and 2 tortillas, meaning 2 epic fish tacos for 23 mxn!! I can hardly contain my excitement just thinking about i!

The Final Bill at Las Tostadillas Del Mar II

20mxn= roughly $1usd.

Wrapping Things Up….

Tostadillas Del Mar II serves up delicious food and drinks for outrageously reasonable prices.  It’s must-try spot when visiting Cancun. Just hurry before word gets out and they realize they can charge more!
