There is an absurd number of bakeries in New York City specializing in everything from cookies to cronuts. Last post, I shared 3 under the radar NYC desserts you need to try (click HERE). Due to popular demand, here are 3 more!
The cookie scene in New York City is second to none. It’s fabulous for consumers, but challenging for rising bakers. Competing against the likes of Levain Bakery and Chip NYC is no easy task. (Check out my guide to NY Cookies HERE!) So when I caught whiff of a new cookie competitor on the block, Cookie Crumbz, I had to check out it.
The Astoria store is light and bright with big beautiful cookies out for display. I tried the Baklava cookie, as recommended by a regular sipping his coffee. WHOA BABY was I impressed. Crispy outside, soft inside, with delightful flakes of baklava that added a unique flavor and exciting texture. Cookie Crumz is certainly an under the radar NYC dessert spot, so be sure to check it out before the secret gets out!
Fat Witch Bakery is a spot in Chelsea Market that specializes in brownie mail orders. When a baked good is wrapped in plastic, I’m immediately skeptical. Howcan it be fresh and delicious?!
Well, turns out they are! I found out in a not so typical way.
It was a chilly afternoon, and two tourists asked me, “Where in the heck is Fat Witch?!” Finding vendors inside Chelsea Market isn’t always obvious, so I gave them detailed directions with a, “let me know how it is! I haven’t tried it yet!” Lo and behold, they returned with an extra brownie for me!
It was thick, rich, fudgy, and oh so decadent.
If you love croissants, then you need to try the Nutella croissant from Angelina bakery. It is perfectly flakey with beautiful layers and loads of Nutella, making for one solid baked treat.
