Crumpets >>>> English Muffins. Both are a type

Crumpets >>>> English Muffins.

Both are a type of griddle bread, but there are some key differences…

1.Crumpets are made with milk , which makes the batter lighter and looser while English muffins have a thicker, sturdier dough.

2. English muffins are cooked on both sides while crumpets are only cooked on one.

3. The light batter and cooking technique gives crumpets delightful little holes (similar to pancakes) that soak up any goodness you put on them

I was first introduced to crumpets in Australia (where they are super popular), but they haven’t caught on in the US

So OF COURSE we had to snag a crumpet at @thecrumpetshop_ in Pike Place Market when visiting Seattle
