I’m totally, utterly, and hopelessly obsess with cookies. They are the perfect dessert, after all. Easy to eat, totally mobile, usually affordable, ageless, classless, and just so delicious. New York City is a cookie lover’s dream (click HERE for the 411), and home to the pioneer of the giant mega cookie: Levain Bakery. No matter where I travel, I seek out the best cookie that place has to offer to see if it can stack up.
The mega cookie craze has hit Australia. From Sydney, to Hobart, to Melbourne, to Brisbane, I’ve consumed far too many cookies for my own good. As a food blogger, I wouldn’t dare keep the valuable findings all to myself.
Without further ado, here are the 4 best cookies in Australia that I’ve had!
4. Mr. Treat, Brisbane: Oreo Nutella Cookie
Mr. Treat is a cookie shop in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, that serves up the best mega cookies the city has to offer. My favorite flavor is the Oreo Nutella. The vanilla base is stuffed with both Nutella and Oreo cream, which is truly a flavor combination made in heaven. Check out my full review HERE.
3. Sweet Splits, Sydney: Dulce De Leche Cookie
If I’m being honest, I’m not sure if the cookies from Sweet Splits were totally delicious, or if it’s the memory that earns it the #3 spot on this list.
When I first arrived to Australia, I was confined to the Amora Jamison in Sydney for a mandatory two week quarantine. Sweet Splits made an appearance on my Instagram feed, I shot them a message, and a box of 6 cookies showed up at my doorstep two days later. Those cookies were the sugary, buttery ray of sunshine I needed to make it through the dark two weeks confined to a hotel room with no fresh air.
The Coconut Dulce De Leche knocked my socks off. The dulce de leche complimented the caramel and white chocolate chips to perfection, and the coconut added a tropical zing that made this chunky cookie irresistible and certainly one of the best cookies in Australia. Check out the full review HERE.
2. Cookie Box, Melbourne: OG Chocolate Chip
Fancy elaborate cookies will all types of fillings and flavors are all well and good, but nothing quite beats an OG chocolate chip cookie. When it’s done right that is…
Cookie Box in Melbourne serves up the perfect chunk chocolate chip cookie. The cookies are thick, there are chocolate chips in every bit, the inside is soft, the outside has the perfect crunch…. pure cookie bliss!
And the best cookie in Australia is…..
1. Paddock Bakery, Gold Coast: Triple Threat Cookie
The best cookie in Australia has perhaps the worst picture in this list. It’s a true testament to deliciousness when you can’t even fathom waiting 1 minute to take a semi-decent photo.
This baby is a white chocolate chip macadamia cookie that is loaded with Nutella and salted caramel. The macadamia adds a smooth, nutty flavor and a bit of crunch while the salted caramel cuts through the sweetness. The flavors come together in a drool-worthy harmony making for next level cookie experience. For a review of Paddock Bakery, click HERE!
Did We Find the Best Cookies in Australia….
Here’s the thing, Australia is a big place! There are hundreds of cookies across the country that we didn’t get to try. But out of the cookies we had the pleasure of eating, these 4 take the cake!

so the question is – what makes a cookie a cookie???? It seems it’s somewhere between a biscuit and a cake
Jeremy would agree with you! We I took him to Levain in New York, he was adamant that it wasn’t actually a cookie.
