Cookies are a marvelous treat that can be found across the world. You have stroopwafel in the Netherlands, shortbread in Scotland, Linzer cookies in Austria… just to name a few. I’ve rarely met a cookie I didn’t like, but I am admittedly partial towards the round, gooey on the inside, crunchy on the outside, numbers that I grew up with.
I’m always for the lookout for a good cookie, and I just so happen to be working on a cruise ship sailing around Alaska. We hit the same handful of ports every 7 days, which has given me ample time to survey the cookie scene in each port just for you.
Let’s dive into the best cookies in Alaska to enjoy in port on your cruise!
Juneau: Alaskan Fudge Company

The Alaskan Fudge Company has been whipping up tasty confectionaries for over 40 years. While they’re famous for their fudge, the hidden gem on offer are the cookies. These massive mounds of joy are sinfully gooey on the inside with just enough crunch on the outside, and there are a handful of options to choose from. The Hope’s Royale with coconut, chocolate, and nuts is my personal favorite, but the lemon cooler is a close second.
The best part is that one cookie will only knock you back $3. A total STEAL, making it one of the best (and cheapest!) cookies in Alaska. (Get the scoop on more Juneau bites HERE!)
Ketchikan: Island Brew Cafe

Island Brew Cafe is a new addition to the Ketchikan foodie scene, and it just so happens to be owned by a delightfully nice gentleman who used to work on ships. This spot serves up sandwiches, coffees, and an impressive selection of baked goods including scones, muffins, and, of course, cookies. I snagged a ginger cookie on my latest visit. It had a pronounced ginger flavor that tasted just like Christmas, and a soft, nearly gooey texture that had me wanting a whole entire plate to down.
Skagway: Lucy’s Bakery
Lucy’s Bakery is an unassuming cafe that dishes up epic baked goods. It’s the brain child of Sarah Williamson, a Detroit-native who moved to Skagway in 2020. Her passion for baking started in the 5th grade, and she perfected her recipes through the decades culminating in the opening of Lucy’s Bakery.

They have scones, muffins, cinnamon rolls (that are epic I might add…), as well as giant chocolate chip cookies. These bad boys have a cookie dough-like texture and are totally loaded with chocolate chips. I picked one up as fuel for my hike to Upper Dewey Lake last week. After the 3 mile trek up with an elevation gain of just under 3200 feet, this cookie tasted absolutely stupendous.
A frugal foodie note is that theses certainly aren’t the cheapest cookies in Alaska. One will set you back just under $5. But a cheaper cookie in Skagway simple doesn’t exist. (Or at least I haven’t found it yet….)
These are hands down the best cookies in Alaska you’ll find in port while on your cruise.
Happy eating!
