June had some SOLID eats and here are my top 5

#5 Avocado Toast from @regular_nyc . The combinations of avocado with salsa verde and fetta is delightful and the addition of pickled chili is brilliant.

#4 Cup and Char Grandma Pie from @williamsburgpizza . Stellar crust and great toppings— I was out of NYC for awhile and this reminded me of how freakin’ amazing pizza is

#3 Dal Makhani from Jackson Diner: So rich, creamy, and hearty. The addition of ginger on the top added an amazing bite and crunch.

#2 Spicy Italian from @faiccosnyc . Honestly life changing…..

#1 Smash Burger from @gothamburgersocialclub. I think this just might be the best smash burger in NYC…. Amazing char, nice crisp, good balance of toppings…. 10/10

FINALLY Trying PopUp Bagels…..

My main takeaway is that the business model is GENIUS. And these reasons on why I think PopUp Bagels is more than just a trend….

1. Everyone who walks in is spending at least $12.

2. Turn over rate is high because staff simply have to toss the bagels in a bag and hand over the tubs of schmear. The workers don’t have to fuss about with frying up eggs, toasting bagels, and accommodating Karen’s triple egg white with 1/2 an avocado and no salt salt bagel order that slows down output.  
3. The product is simple, but the concept in unique. Meaning it’s easy to convince people to give it a try.  
4. The meat of the business, which are the bagels, stays the same. But the garnishes, which are the schmears, change. The weekly rotation of new and exciting schmears is what keeps people coming back for more. Some flavors in the past that I’m personally devastated I missed include Brown Butter Cinnamon, Blueberry Pancake Cinnamon Roll, and Cannoli Cream Cheese.
 5. Often, theses special schmears are in collaboration with other loved brands like Cup of Noodles, Old Bay, Poppi, and Fruit Loops. (If there ever do a collab with Cinnamon Toast Crunch I’ll be able to die happy.) 
6. Any baked good that’s straight out of the oven is going to be delicious 😊

If I could only have one BEC for the rest of my time on this planet….

I’d go with this one from @bosbagels

✅The bagels have the perfect texture and great flavor
✅The eggs are moist
✅You can pick the type of cheese (I like pepperjack), and it’s melted!!!
✅I have loads of nostalgia at Bo’s. The first time Jeremy and I lived together, we were in an apartment in Harlem. This was before The Frugal Foodies even started! We’d go at least once a week, and it’s just consistently amazing
