1. The Eastie from Joey Roses

Joey Roses is a hole in the wall dive bar in the East Village that serves up beers, mixed drinks, and 8 different types of sandwiches for $8 each. The Eastie is loaded with prosciutto, salami, asiago, peepadews, and olive oil. Nothing fancy, just a big, solid sandwich that’s perfect with a beer after a long day.

Pro Tip: Joey Roses has a buy two sandwiches get 1 free happy hour deal along with $4 beer!

2. BEC From Parva Bakeshop

Parva Bakeshop is connected to a laundry mat in the middle of Jackson Heights, Queens. You can get all types of pastries, coffee, Colombian food specialties, and some pretty epic bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwiches. I opted for a BEC with chipotle sauce on an everything bagel, and it did not disappoint. The homemade bagel wasn’t too big, which I appreciated, and the ratio of the ingredients was spot on.

Insider Tip: I’ve kept up with the owner’s via Instagram for a few months, and they are passionate and kind. Eating at Parva Bakeshop is truly supporting local business.

3. Fried Chicken Sandwich on a biscuit from Cheeky Sandwiches

When it comes to “best cheap eats in NYC for $10 or less” lists, the fried chicken sandwich on a biscuit from Cheeky Sandwiches usually makes the cut. I finally tried it on a lower east side chicken sandwich crawl, and was certainly impressed. The chicken was lightly fried, the biscuit was buttery, and the cabbage added a kick. What really made this delicious, however, was the gravy. It was thick, salty, and creamy, tying the whole sandwich together.

4. Aloo masala roll from Roti Roll Bombay Franky

Roti Roll from Bombay Frankie

Roti Roll Bombay Franky is a hole in the wall spot in uptown Manhattan serving up delicious roti rolls that are cheap. And I mean really cheap! Half the menu is $6 or less. The aloo masala roll is chocked full of warm, flavorful spices that make your heart smile, and the soft potato makes for a creamy mouthfeel.

I’m currently in an Indian food phase, and these roli rolls hit the spot.

5. Salted Caramel Pretzel Chip Cookie from Funny Face Bakery
