Carne Asada Taco con Todo From Los Tacos #1: $4.75

Carne Asada taco from Los Tacos #1 in Chelsea Market

Naming your restaurant “The Number 1 Taco”, is bold. And let me tell you, these tacos don’t disappoint. The ingredients are fresh, cooked perfectly, and loaded with flavor. My carne asada taco was well balanced in both texture and flavor, and the fresh tortilla held the mound of filling perfectly. (Click HERE for my Chelsea Market taco crawl!)

TIP: The line gets long. Go on an off day and off time to avoid the wait.

Cheese Slice from Sal & Carmine: $3

Sal and Carmine is a grungy hole in the wall that serves up solid pies on the Upper West Side. The crust is thin with an ideal level of chewiness. Each bite is heavy on the cheese and low on the sauce with plenty of flavor. In classic New York fashion, you’ll be served a piping hot slice. Practice self control to let it cool down to avoid ending up with a burned mouth like me.

Pork and Chive Dumplings: King Dumplings: $3.50

10 dumplings for $3.50 is a total steal, even compared to the frozen food aisle. These pan fried pork and chive dumplings from King Dumplings on the edge of Chinatown are thick and doughy with a nice juicy filling. While there could be a bit more filling, for $.35 a dumpling, you can’t be too mad.

New York bagels are something special, and Best Bagel and Coffee serves up, well, the best! Their bagels are huge with a podgy texture that is extremely  satisfying. The cinnamon raisin is perfectly sweet with just enough raisins.
