5. Tchupala Falls
Tchupala Falls is a hidden gem of Wooroonooran National Park that gets overlooked as people unknowingly race by to get the famous Millaa Millaa circuit… see #4 🙂 (Click HERE for the 411 on how to get to Tchupala Falls, it isn’t obvious). Why does this little 15 m block waterfall earn the coveted #5 spot? Well, we had quite the adventure along the way that began at the “DO NOT ENTER” sign placed in front of a weather damaged path.
If I’ve learned one thing about Australia, it’s to always pay attention to the signs. Stinging plants? Better watch out! Crocodile living nearby? Stay out of the ocean! Yet, we couldn’t resist exploring down the path that looked like it was straight out of an Indiana Jones movie. We are suckers for a great adventure, and Tchupala Falls delivered just that.
Why We Like It: The adventure, falls, and dense green jungle were the perfect recipe for a great experience

4. Milla Millaa Falls
Millaa Millaa Falls is an astonishing picturesque waterfall in the Atherton Tableland Region. It features a 18.3 m drop into a massive swimming hole nestled in vibrant green jungle. It’s so beautiful that it has been the locale for shampoo commercials. So throw on your swimmers and get ready to do an epic hair flip!
We We Like It: While Millaa Millaa doesn’t take any leg work or adventure to get to, the pure natural beauty is astonishing. Nature has one hell of an eye for interior design!

3. Josephine Falls
Josephine Falls is a cascade waterfall in Wooroonooran National Park 75 km south of Cairns. It is nestled in dense, picturesque jungle, and it’s prime jewel is a natural swimming hole at the bottom. The crystal clear water is the perfect reprieve from the suffocating Queensland heat. Plus, one of the cascades is a waterslide, and you can fly down into the pool below.
Why We Like It: The initial impression and the falls themselves are just average, but the experience you can have is top notch. It’s the perfect spot to relax, swim, and fly down the slick rock.
PRO TIP: maybe don’t wear a white bathing suit…
Pro Tip 2: The rocks are super slick. To get to the slide, go around to the far right to climb up and walk across.

2. Wallaman Falls
Wallaman Falls in Girringun National Park is the tallest single drop waterfall in Australia that comes roaring down from 268 m/ 870 ft above. The pure strength of the water pounding down into the pool below is both awe-inspiring and humbling. Human may be able to build dams and use explosives, but if you strip our tools away, we will always pale in comparison to nature.
Why We Like It: I mean… just look at that baby! It’s without a doubt one of the best waterfalls in Queensland.

1. Windin Falls
Windin Falls in Wooroonooran National Park is totally, utterly epic. A mostly flat 5.5km track takes you to a calm, serene natural infinity pool that’s perfect for a dip. This quaint little pool gives way to the mega waterfall pounding below. If you’re feeling adventurous, I’d highly recommend doing it as a sunrise hike! (Click HERE to learn how).
Why We Like It: Windin Falls is one of those special places that I’ll remember for years to come. The adventure of hiking at 4am, the thrill of seeing the sunrise, and splashing around in the infinity pool while taking breathtaking scenery made for one hell of an experience.

wow what can i say? I had no idea there were so many beautiful falls in QLD!
I was at Mila MIla waterfalls many years ago. I think there was no concrete platform as I see in the picture. Wish they had just secured it with wooden fence.
