3 Unique NYC Desserts (That Are Actually Delicious!)

The NYC desserts scene is a rat race towards going viral. Bakers craft wild flavor concoctions in hopes of racking up those ever coveted views and likes so that perhaps you convert from a scroller to stroller who pops on by to try for yourself.

Outrageous come with a price tag. Just imagine how much time and wasted butter went into creating those peanut butter and jelly foie gras cookies! I have a raging sweet tooth, and as a New York foodie I feel like it’s my duty to try out the hot spots to let you know what’s #worthit.

Here are 3 unique NYC desserts that actually tasty good!

1.Black Sesame Lava Cream Crepe Roll from Ando Patisserie

Black Sesame Crepe Take from Ando Patisserie

ANDO Patisserie serves up unique NYC desserts that boast Asian flavors crafted with French baking techniques. You can snag the likes of a durian tart, earl grey custard tart, and this black sesame lava cream crepe roll. The crepe roll has a soft, delicate texture, and the cream is just thick enough to create a comforting mouth feel without being too sticky. A deep sesame flavor is the star of the show.

This bad boy is a whopping $18. However, it can certainly be split between 3 people.

2. Spicy Mango Bombolone from Unregular Bakery

Unregular Bakery is the newest NYC dessert spot on the block. They specialize in “unregular” confectionary treats you won’t find anywhere else. I got an invite to stop by and was gifted this lovely box. The most unique (and most delicious) of the bunch was the spicy mango bombolone (top left). It tasted exactly that mango coated with chili– a bit of sweet with an aftershock of spice.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the pastry itself was a bit on the dry side. It was the end of the day. And they did just open. So I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt… for now…

3. Everything Bagel Mochi Ice Cream from Mochidoki

Mochidoki

Mochi ice cream is a genius creation that is simply ice cream wrapped in mochi. The chewy to creamy texture is a pure delight. Mochidoki is a premier mochi ice cream brand that you’ll find in Whole Foods. But in NYC, there are 2 brick and mortar locales. I popped in to try a few flavors, and the everything bagel one blew my mind.

It tasted exactly like an everything bagel with a unique saltiness, subtle sesame flavor, and hints of garlic and onion. Except in mochi ice cream form. It’s one of those NYC desserts that you need to try to believe!

I guarantee you’ve never tasted anything quite like these 3 NYC desserts!
